Where children come first
First Steps Kindergarten welcomes any child from birth to school age. We are a private day nursery set in a homely environment, and all staff are able to provide the care and attention which young children need. We believe in the concept of an atmosphere of activity where learning takes place and where traditional values of quality service and dependability are assured.
We opened in October 1997 and are situated on St. Catherine''s Court on the Sunderland Enterprise Park, overlooking the River Wear. We are registered with Ofsted as a Private Day Nursery.
Most parents are anxious when leaving their young children to be cared for outside the home, we are well aware of this and are keen to ensure that children and parents adapt easily to the transition. This is achieved by providing a very caring and happy atmosphere.
We believe that it is in everyone’s interests to maintain good channels of communication between the nursery and parents. On joining the nursery, every child is assigned to a Key Worker. Apart from parents being able to talk on a daily basis with the child’s Key Worker, they also produce daily written notes which are available when the child is collected. In this way, parents can keep up to date with progress and routines of their child.
We also provide on-site crèche services, and a emergency places scheme for businesses, as well as one-off crèche facilities for corporate events.
